Useful for Staff and Students
Launch Tool →

A source-grounded AI assistant for working with uploaded or linked materials. NotebookLM can cite passages from the sources you provide, which makes checking easier, but it does not make the output automatically reliable. Use it to navigate a focused source set, then verify every important claim against the source.

Verification Required

While using uploaded sources lowers the risk of hallucination compared to the open web, it does not eliminate it. You must always check the citation links provided next to every claim to ensure the AI has interpreted your source text accurately.

For Teaching & Support

  • 🎙️ Generate audio overviews: Convert selected module materials into audio discussion formats, then check tone and accuracy before sharing.
  • 📹 Video processing: Where your account supports it, add YouTube lecture links and ask NotebookLM to summarise them or locate relevant passages.
  • 🧩 Quiz and flashcard drafts: Generate practice questions from readings, then review them for accuracy, level and alignment with learning outcomes.
  • 🎞️ Slide deck and infographic outlines: Ask for an outline based on your sources, then refine it with your own disciplinary judgement.

For Research & Admin

  • 🔍 Grounded analysis: Upload a focused source set and ask: "Compare the arguments on X across these sources with citations."
  • 🧠 Mind mapping: Use it to identify possible connections between sources, then check whether those links are really supported.
  • 📝 Grant and briefing preparation: Draft briefing documents, FAQs or timelines from notes, then verify all facts and funder requirements.
